About the author

​C. F. Ramuz was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, lived in Weimar, Germany, and finally settled in Paris. During a career that spanned four decades, he published both poetry and fiction. English translations of his novels include When the Mountain Fell (Kessinger), The Young Man from Savoy (Host), and The Reign of the Evil One (Wildside Press). Ramuz collaborated with Igor Stravinsky intranslating the composer’s vocal and orchestral works, notably the “Histoire du soldat” (The Soldier’s tale), into French.
