Submissions
A Public Space welcomes submissions of fiction, essays, translations, and poetry; as well as non-categorizable work that experiments with genre and form.
The magazine has several open reading periods throughout the year on Submittable. The deadline for the current reading period is October 31, 2022, at 11:59 pm ET. Additional details are available here.
At the moment, A Public Space Books does not have an open reading period for submissions.

A Public Space Fellowships
A Public Space offers three writing fellowships annually to fiction and nonfiction writers who have not yet published a book-length work. Fellows are selected through an open application. You can read about the 2021 Writing Fellows here. Applications for the 2022 fellowships will be accepted March 1 - March 31, 2022, and you can find guidelines here.
A Public Space offers an editorial fellowship annually to aspiring editors. Fellows are selected through an open application each winter. More information about the editorial fellowship program is available here. Details about applying for the 2023 fellowship will be announced in the fall here.
Volunteer and Internship Opportunities
A Public Space accepts applications for summer internships. To be considered for a summer internship, please apply by March 15. The internship program provides practical experience in critical reading, research, copyediting, and fact-checking; marketing and publicity, including social media and events; and an overview of an independent nonprofit literary organization as well as an introduction to the publishing community.
