Call for Artists
July 31, 2014
We are absolutely thrilled to be publishing a story from Kelly Link’s forthcoming collection in our fall issue. Part Philip K. Dick, part Pygmalion, “The New Boyfriend” is a twisted send-up of Twilight-era teenage love. APS Readers, we’re giving you the chance to illustrate it for us. Send us a drawing, photograph, painting, collage, print, or other visual inspired by the quote below:
“The new Boyfriend’s eyelids flutter shut. Eyelashes like black fans. Skin just like skin. Even his fingernails are perfect and so real, as real as anything Immy has ever seen.”
The winning illustration will be published alongside Link’s story in our fall issue, and the winner will receive the following:
-an honorarium
-two copies of APS 22
-a 1-year subscription to A Public Space
-a signed copy of Link’s new collection, Get in Trouble, which Random House will publish in February of 2015
Guidelines: Your submission should be a digital file, 6 1/2" x 8 1/2", with a minimum 300dpi resolution. TIFF, EPS, or high-resolution PDF files are acceptable. The NEW deadline is Monday, August 18.
