Jervey Tervalon received an MFA in fiction from University of California, Irvine. His novels include Lita and Dead Above Ground (Washington Square), and he edited with Gary Phillips, the anthology The Cocaine Chronicles (Akashic). His essay “The Slow Death of a Chocolate City” appeared recently in LA Weekly.
