About the author
Dagoberto Gilb is the author of The Magic of Blood, Woodcuts of Women, and, most recently, the story collection Before the End, After the Beginning (all Grove). The recipient of Whiting and Guggenheim Awards, he also edited Hecho en Tejas: An Anthology of Texas Mexican Literature (University of New Mexico). He lives in Austin, Texas, and Mexico City.
