Readiing Like a Writer

At times it may feel as if there is a high, well-guarded wall between your own work and the literature you admire. Inspiration can be diffuse and intimidating, rather than the practical scaffold for which we’re often hungry. This class will focus on reading like a writer, rather than a student or critic or fan—the better to use the literature we love for our own purposes. We’ll examine the idea of a center of gravity in a sentence, a passage, even an entire book—and use that idea as a focus for exploration and exercise, towards the idea of connecting our own projects with the literature we find important.

Please note this class is for ages 18+
