Alexander Vvedensky

Translated by Eugene Ostashevsky

About the author

Alexander Vvedensky most likely wrote “The Solder Ay Bee Cee” as part of a larger text in Kharkov in late 1937 or early 1938, after the birth of his son. A translation of The Man with the Black Coat: Russia’s Literature of the Absurd, which he cowrote with Daniil Kharms, is available from Northwestern University Press.
